The Economy – What’s Going On?

The Economy – Type that into a Search Engine.

I used Google and if you do too, then here is what you get.

Results 1 – 10 of about 245,000,000 for The Economy. (0.18 seconds)

Wow – Google found 245 Million indicators on those two words in a fraction of a second.  That absolutely blows my mind that there could be that much “information” floating around “out there” on the economy.  Look at it this way, there are approximately 305,316,812 people in the United States as I write this blog.  If 80% of the population in the U.S. all read one of those results (web-pages) then all that information would be consumed and comprehended in reasonable amount of time. Right?

You ask – Where is this guy going?

There is so much information out there on our economy.  Is it any wonder that people get so confused and develop “tired head” when they hear about “our economy this” and “our economy that”? I would like to think that I have some level of intelligence and know a few things about personal finances.  However, I can not get a accurate handle on this whole “economy” issue.  So how can I be a source of information for Resource One Credit Union’s member/owners and our community on the Economy?

Here is what I suggest for trying to understand what’s going on with “The Economy”.

Remember that there are many “folks” out there that claim to be an “expert” on this subject matter.  Understand that each one of them have their own “opinion” on this subject matter.  Often times you will hear them start-off by saying, “In my opinion” …Blah-Blah-Blah.  Whether they start off like that or not, just remember to think of what is coming out of their mouth as just that – opinion.  They may quote facts – but realize that those facts can be distorted to best achieve ones agenda.

So what is a person to do with so much information running around out there?

Here is my “opinion”. (Agenda???)

Find a trusted source for news and information.  A trusted source of information can come from a national news agency, local news source, or trusted website.  Shop around and figure out which one appeals to you the most (Likes and Dislikes).  Then might I suggest you take the news or information source at face value.  That is you need to keep in mind that people “out there” like to be entertained.  So the news or information source keeps this in mind when they communicate.  ”Sensationalism”  Is it not sad that a news cast, information source, or article has to contain so much “drama and/or theater”?

Entertainment that is what we want – right?  More Reality TV?  Hey, I watch it…

So be careful out there and good luck on trying to “figure out” what is going on with our economy.  I am still working on it too.
